HOT LOVE is a concept created by a small team consisting of Dennis Slootweg (artist), Joost Nieuwenburg (artist) and ourselves. It started as a way to organise friends (and friends of friends) outside of all those familiar places and get together on themed evenings in a venue next to our studio spaces. HOT LOVE could be anything we wanted: a spa, a gym, a cocktail club, a restaurant, a swim club in the summer, a tattoo parlour, a nail studio or Hot Noise musical events. It’s all about the feeling, just tap into it!
As an identity for the gatherings and parties, we created a font. The font is based on DIY taped typography combined with calligraphy.
The font marks the multiple aspects, spaces and expressions on the site.
To spread the ‘HOT LOVE feeling’, our friend Bas Ackermann (creative director and filmmaker) suggested creating a series of short videos, so we teamed up to create a story and visuals in which HOT LOVE’s image is portrayed. Six short films were made, all visualizing an aspect of the feeling. All scenes were shot at the HOT LOVE venue and our studio spaces. This video shows snippets from the six shorts.
